China is the largest producer of municipal solid waste in the world, with a waste production of 215 million tons in 2017. It is expected that this number will increase to 500 million tons by 2025. The project supported by this loan of ADB can realize the harmless treatment of 1.75 million tons of domestic waste, provide about 435.5 million kwh of clean electricity, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 1.17 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent. The agreement is a pragmatic cooperation between the French side in response to China's "Belt and Road" initiative, and will focus on cooperation in the development of the "Belt and Road" third-party market. China Investment Corporation and the French National Investment Bank in the four parties of the agreement are both national sovereign funds. They jointly chose SUS as the technology and equipment provider for future cooperation projects, which demonstrated the full trust of the two governments in SUS.
